Fast-growing SMEs are being called upon to give their input on what is needed to ensure businesses can flourish in the UK, as part of the country’s largest survey of scaleup and growing companies.

Now in its 11th year, the ScaleUp Institute’s (SUI) Scaleup Survey gathers the views of UK scaleups – businesses that have overcome the initial hurdles as startups and are now expanding operations – on issues such as barriers to growth, skill gaps and access to markets.

Each year, hundreds of scaling businesses participate in the survey. The SUI, a private sector-led, not-for-profit organisation, collaborates with policy makers, corporate partners and educational establishments to take forward recommendations based on the survey responses.

“Our annual survey provides important data and evidence to help us ensure that scaleups receive the support they need to maintain, achieve and exceed their growth aspirations,” the ScaleUp Institute says. “Each year, with the help of hundreds of business leaders, the findings have informed and shaped the support that the private and public sectors can offer to help businesses to scale.”

To date, the SUI says insights from the annual survey have supported the introduction of the Scaleup Visa, reforms to unlock institutional capital, new innovation and export strategies, and the expansion of UK government policies such as the regional funds.

“With a new government formed this summer and upcoming Budget, there is a great opportunity to shape the future of scaling in the UK to make it the best place in the world to scale up a business,” the SUI says.

The deadline for participation is 30 September. Businesses can access the survey via the following link: https://bit.ly/3XoPAhh
